Protected by the Bear Page 13

Ash squeezed Chloe’s hand as they plane dropped lower and the runway came into view.

“A lot different to the last time I landed here,” said Chloe.

“But think, if that plane hadn’t crashed, we would have never met.”

She hadn’t really thought about that. Despite a plane crashing and people dying, she’d found a wonderful man to spend the rest of her life with.

After the plane had landed and arrived at the gate, Ash took Sophie in the carrier while Chloe took their bags. When they got out and into the airport terminal, she hadn’t expected to see anyone there to meet them, but at the front of a crowd of the shifters were Bear, Hannah, and Sam. Charlotte and Aiden held up a sign saying “Welcome Back Chloe and Sophie.”

“Did you know about this?” asked Chloe as Ash put his arm around her.

“Bear told me they were going to do something special.”

“I’m going to love being your wife.”

“And I’m going to love being your husband and father to Sophie. You’ll always be protected by this bear.”

  Epilogue

This was the most preposterous thing. They’d ordered work to stop on the construction of the new condo project because the soil had to be tested for contamination.

Brady threw the letter down onto his desk. He’d get an attorney to see about this. Time was money. Jenna Paxton had handled the case for Chloe very much to his liking. He preferred to give work to shifters, but for this one, his gut told him to go with human, and Jenna—he hadn’t met her when he’d hired her, but now it was time to see her in person.

He dialed the number of her law firm.

  “Paxton Paxton and Holmes.”

“Can I speak with Jenna Paxton, please?” asked Brady, typing in the name of the law firm on his computer.

  “Can I ask who’s calling?”

“It’s Brady Walsh.” Brady clicked on the link and then clicked on Jenna’s photo.

  “Just one moment, please.”

“Hello, Mr. Walsh. How can I help you?”

He was speechless. The photo he now saw on his screen took his breath away. She was gorgeous. He’d never fucked a human before. Never so much as dated one. “I’m going to need your services again, this time for my own business. I’ve been ordered to stop work on my project and it’s going to cost me money,” he said. He wanted to remain angry because of the letter, but seeing her beautiful face took the edge off his often fast temper.

“Okay, how about we meet? How does one p.m. work for you?”

“That’s perfect. In fact, don’t eat lunch and I’ll meet you at the Starlight Café.”

  “See you then.”

He had one rule and that was never mix business with pleasure, but with a face like Jenna’s, he’d be very willing to make the exception.
