  Andy clenched his fists and a pulse beat close to his jawline. He was pissed and I was too. No more sex and it was only the 15th of the month. And who was to say if we’d be lucky enough to get a permit next month or even the one after that.

  Andy put his hand on the wall. “My buddy told me you’re going to start issuing permanent mate permits for shifter and non-shifter couples,” he said.

  “Yes, they’ll be available on the 20th of next month,” Troy said.

  I looked at Andy. Surely he didn’t…

  Next thing I knew he was getting down on his hands and knees and reaching for my hand.

  “Would you do me the honor of being this werebear’s permanent partner?”

  Troy looked at me. “I can’t process the paperwork until you’ve agreed,” he said.

  “Yes, I would like to be this bear’s mate,” I said.

  “I’ll get the application started and you’ll both need to come down to City Hall in the next ten days to get micro-chipped and have a physical exam,” said Troy.

  “We will be there,” said Andy

  “Congratulations and I’ll be on my way.”

  I opened the door for Troy and waved him goodbye. I shut the door and turned back to look at Andy.

  “You do know we can’t have sex again until we’ve got the permanent partner permit and at City Hall they’re going to make us jump through lots of hoops just so we can be mates?” I asked him.

  “Yeah, but just think what the honeymoon’s going to be like?”
