Josie turned over and rested her head on his pillow, smelling the familiar spicy scent she’d detected on the train.
“Now relax and spread your legs, because I’m going to play with you for a little bit. And no complaining. It’s going to be tough waiting to get to the good bit, but you’ll see this will be well worth your time.”
She pushed her thighs apart as Quinn stripped and got onto the bed with her. She reached out and stroked his cock as it jerked up.
“No touching me, just me touching you.”
He started at her cheek, running his finger down the spot by her ear, over her collarbone to her right nipple which he fingered and rolled. Both nipples reacted by turning into tiny buds.
She slide farther down the bed as he tickled her belly and then pushed his finger through her pubic hair. He spread her pussy lips apart and cold air hit her entrance.
“Is this cream because of my touch?”
She nodded as he took some on his finger and glided it through her folds. Closing her eyes, she sank back farther onto the pillow, once again taking in the scent of Quinn that clung to the quilt. Drifting away, that’s what she was doing as he inched his finger closer to her pussy opening.
“You relaxing?” he asked.
“Mmm, I feel good.”
“Keep your eyes closed because I have a treat for you.”
She felt him get off the bed and then heard what sounded like the bedside table drawer being opened. Next the sound of a package being torn open filled the air.
Josie expected him to enter her but instead, he sucked on her nipples and then she felt him rubbing her clit. She peeked, she couldn’t help it.
“You cheated.”
“Sorry.”
“So what do you think of the double play.”
She relaxed back some more as the tip of his sheathed cock circled her clit.
“And no cheating again, by which I mean you’re to be honest when you’re getting close to coming.”
“But I’ll want to do that.”
“Nope, missy, you don’t, not yet.”
How could she stop him when she was getting close to a climax?
He sucked hard on her nipples, all the time while pushing his cock up and down on her clit. She stirred, feeling something brewing. She bit her lip. She couldn’t cheat twice in one evening.
“I’m…”
Getting closer and wanting to go there.
“You’re what?”
“I’m almost having an orgasm.”
He stopped abruptly.
“Can I at least open my eyes?” asked Josie.
“That you can do.”
He pushed her legs apart some more and got between them, holding his dick and teasing her pussy opening with it.
He slid it in, just a tad, then took it out and then repeated his action.
Who would have thought she had some many pleasurable nerve endings near her entrance? She bit down on her finger, feeling like she was going to have to cheat.
“You are giving yourself away.”
She knew what he meant. She could feel her juices pumping from her.
“Quinn, just let me come, please, please.”
He ran his finger down her belly and then stopped everything, no touching, no teasing, nothing.
“You’re a cruel cowboy.”
“Am I?”
His cock rigid and hard. She wanted all of it inside her, but he sat looking at her.
Shit, she needed to climax. The whole thing had put her on the verge of a migraine. If he wouldn’t take her over the edge, she’d do it herself.
Sliding her fingers down her belly, she delved deep into her folds and fingered her clit.
“That’s cheating again, but it’s turning me on big time.”
She strummed her clit, lifting her butt up and down to create more friction. She groaned; she was getting closer and closer. Quinn slapped her hand away and the next thing she knew he was deep inside her, causing her to almost come that second.
“You are going to come with me buried in that cute pussy of yours.”
She pulled her legs up, crossing them at the ankle and set them on his butt as he pounded into her.
“Harder, much harder,” she whispered.
He did just that, almost sending her body sliding up toward the top of the bed. She put her hands on the headboard and rode him as he thrust deep.
Quinn had been correct. Damn, this cowboy was right just about everything. Her climax was building like never before. Guess the waiting had been worth it. Lowering her hands, she dug her nails in his shoulders, feeling her approaching climax take hold of her legs, even her toes, but most of all, her pussy.
She screamed and almost sat bolt upright, wishing all orgasms could be like it.
“Quinn?”
“Um.”
He was panting, breathing hard. Then she felt a gush inside her and he set his head upon her chest. She ran her fingers through his hair. She’d like to stay here in this exact spot forever.
****
He not only knew how to make love to a woman, he knew how to make a mean plate of pancakes too. Huckleberry syrup to boot. She’d never had it before, and it, like this cowboy, was something she was hooked on.
They’d ridden into town so he could show her around. The look of pride on his face as they walked down Main Street was obvious. And who wouldn’t love to shop with the backdrop of mountains to the left of them. It had obviously snowed up in the higher elevations during the night, because their caps were tinted white.
“Best muffins and doughnuts this side of the Continental Divide,” said Quinn, stopping to look in one of the windows filled with cakes and pastries. He waved to someone inside and an older lady waved back.
“You said you read a lot, but your library’s only open one afternoon a week, where do you get your books?” asked Josie.
“Online, or I ride into Kalispell. I’ve even been known to travel to Missoula for something I’m especially looking for.”
Josie nodded, looking at an empty store across the way while her head ticked with an idea. Maybe it was way too premature to be thinking along those lines.
“I know I shouldn’t have been peeking, but I noticed your sister’s urn still in your bag. The ashes were still in there.”
That brought her back to reality, to the here and now.
“Quinn, I couldn’t do it. I know she’s gone and that they’re just her ashes, but I felt like I couldn’t leave her alone in Seattle or out at sea like that.”
He squeezed her hand.
“So you’re going to take her back to St. Louis with you?”
She shrugged her shoulders. “Right now I don’t know. That’s one of the reason’s I decided to take you up on your offer of visiting.”
“And there was me thinking it was because of my good-looking face.”
She stopped walking and so did Quinn. “It is the best looking face I’ve ever seen and it’s the biggest reason I stopped by. However, I thought lingering someplace a little longer might allow me to think and come up with a perfect solution.”
“And has it?”
“I know in my heart I don’t want to leave her someplace I can’t ever be.”
“That makes sense. After all, she was your sister and like you said, your best buddy, too.”
“But I can’t be selfish. Part of me thinks I need to get my act together, get my ass back on that train to Seattle, and this time have the courage to do it. It’s her choice of final resting places, not mine.”
“That’s true, too.”
“So what would you do?”
“Hey, she’s not my sister. Only you know what she wanted.”
“And there was me thinking you’d have all the answers.”
“I have them for lots of things, final resting spaces isn’t one. Something that might help is a freshly baked huckleberry muffin and a hot chocolate.”
He opened the store door and when the aroma of coffee and cinnamon
hit her nose, she had all the answers.

Quinn traced the outline of Josie’s body with his middle finger as she lay on her side on his bed. Over her curvy hips, down the luscious thigh….what was he going to do when she went back to St. Louis? And it wasn’t just the sex he’d miss. She was intelligent, fun, and they laughed together. He couldn’t remember the last lady he’d done that with.
He didn’t want to dwell on her departure or their good-bye so he lay on his back and pulled her on top of him. He ran his fingers down her spine.
“Are you going to miss me?”
Shit, he shouldn’t have asked her. It made him sound like he was needy. Fuck, he was needy, but just for her.
“Of course I will.”
“You think you’ll come back and visit again?”
Holy shit, needy had quickly moved into downright desperate.
“Would you like me to?”
“I really would.”
“Then I think that can be arranged.”
She leaned over and kissed him, her hair tickling his chest.
“I probably have to leave the day after tomorrow.”
His heart sank. That soon.
“Then I guess let’s make the most of our time while we can.”
He played with her nipples. They were deep pink, big, and just how he liked them. He rolled them between his thumb and fingers, feeling her groan. She held her breasts up to him like she was offering them as a sacrifice. He caressed them like they were valuable pieces of art she’d put in his care.
His cock twitched and he grew hard, so hard it was almost painful. He reached over for the condom he’d placed on the bedside table. He handed it to her.
“Maybe you’d do the honor tonight.”
Her long fingers opened the package and pulled out the condom. Groaning, he enjoyed the pleasure of her touching his cock as she unrolled the rubber on him.
She lifted herself up and impaled herself down on his dick, driving him deep within her pussy. They locked hands, palm to palm as she rode him, lifting her thighs and butt. Each time made his dick pulsate.
Josie gripped his hands tighter, moaning as she did so. Her movement got faster, more urgent as she groaned and leaned forward a little. Her breasts bounced, and he thought she was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.
She stopped suddenly, going still, her pussy gripping him like she was afraid it would escape from inside her. She panted and cried and he knew by the look in her eyes, her climax had been pretty fantastic.
He pushed her over onto her side, lifting her leg and sliding deep inside her again. He thrust hard, holding onto her and their bodies slapped into one another and then, he got as lucky as her, he came like never before.
He kissed her shoulder. He wanted her to stay forever.
****
Quinn was probably wondering where she was. She’d left him fast asleep. She’d gotten up, pulled on her jeans and sweater, and decided to go for a walk so she could think. If paradise existed, this was probably what it would look like. Mountains as far as the eye could see. Birds singing. Yes, even they sounded happier here. Flowers blooming even on barren soil. She guessed everything was glad to be in this slice of heaven. She looked at the slip of paper where she’d written down the number of the real estate agent for the empty store on Main Street.
Jennifer would probably be smiling. If she went through with it, she would have done something impulsive, following her heart instead of her head.
A gust of wind chose that moment to take her hair in the air and then across her eyes. When she pushed it aside, she saw a lone wolf sitting up on the mountain side. Days ago, she might have been scared, but now she stood looking at him. He was beautiful. This whole place was beautiful. Had Jennifer not requested she take the train journey in her place, she wouldn’t have met Quinn, or ever seen this part of the world.
The wolf raised his head and howled. Two wolf pups ran over and Josie guessed it was mother and her babies.
If only she’d brought her camera or phone with her.
“Josie.”
She jumped. She hadn’t expected to hear Quinn’s voice.
She turned around. “Look, isn’t it a wonderful sight?” she asked pointing at the wolf and pups.
He smiled and brought her hand up to kiss it.
“How did you find me here?” she asked.
“Instinct. It’s where I come to think,” he said.
“Would there be any problem with me scattering Jennifer’s ashes here?”
“None whatsoever. Are you sure?”
Josie nodded. “I know in my heart this is the place she wants to spend eternity.”
Chapter Ten
Quinn paced up and down. He’d never proposed before. Hell, he didn’t even have a ring. Didn’t have any words worked out. But one thing he did have a hell of a lot of, was love for this woman. He’d never been a guy who believed in love at first sight, but if he was honest, he’d felt that the minute he’d seen Josie on the train.
Once she’d made up her mind about her sister’s ashes, he knew that meant she’d be back, that she felt something for the place where he lived and that he wouldn’t be asking her to give up anything back in St. Louis. This was no quick romance and a foolish mistake she’d regret somewhere down the road.
He peeked into the kitchen. She was talking to someone on her cell phone. He was breaking out in a sweat, knowing he had to do it soon, because she had to go back to home in the morning. Maybe he should phone his dad, his brothers and ask for any tips they had.
Shit, no, he wanted Josie to be the first person to know he wanted her to be his wife. He stepped into the kitchen just as she was finishing her call. He looked around. Not much of a place for a guy to ask you to marry him, but if he didn’t do it now, he’d lose the courage.
“Josie.”
“Something wrong?”
Fuck, did he have a deer caught in the headlights kind of look on his face?
He shook his head. On impulse to do this the right way, he went down on one knee. He remembered his mom telling him his dad had gotten down on his knees and proposed to her in some fancy restaurant in Helena. Did guys still do this? He didn’t care, because this cowboy was still old-fashioned about certain things.
Beckoning her over, he wondered if she knew what he was about to do, or if he’d simply dropped something on the kitchen floor. Damn, what if she said no and he was stuck down here like an idiot?
Think positive.
He grabbed both her hands and looked up at her. “Josie, I know we haven’t known one another that long. I’m not usually an impulsive sort of guy, but…oh, for crying out loud…will you marry me?”
Getting down on her knees, she took his face between his hands and kissed him. “Yes, I will. But you have to understand I won’t be a stay at home wife, because I’ve just this minute gone into business in town.”
He sighed in relief. She was going to be his wife…but wait a minute, business in town? Not that he had any problems with a wife who worked outside the home.
“Business?”
She nodded. “You won’t have to go to Kalispell or Missoula for your books anymore. I’m opening a book shop in Timber Creek. I spotted an empty store while we were in town. I begin renting it the first of next month.”
They stood and he pulled her in close. “So you really like this place?” he asked.
“I love this place, but most of all I love a certain cowboy.”
“Now I’ll have a wife to keep me warm in bed and a whole bunch of great books to read while I’m in it. Of course, we’ll be doing a whole lot of other things under the covers, too.”
“And I’d like to spread my sister’s ashes before I go home and pack up to move to Timber Creek.”
“You want me to come with you? I mean I’ll understand if you want to do it on your own.”
“You’re going to be her brother-in-law, so I think she’d want you there.”
****
Josie let go of Quinn’s hand as they got to the top of the ridge overlooking the mountain where she’d seen the wolf and her pups. She took off the lid of the urn, handed it to him, and then let the wind take Jennifer’s ashes into the air.
They travelled away from them going over the top of the ridge and higher into the air. There was a wolf’s howl as her sister’s remains flew into the sky.
Quinn put his arms around her and she rested her head on his shoulder.
“I think she’s happy now.”
“I think she is, too,” said Quinn.
“Well, I better get packed and ready to leave, because I have a wedding to organize and a store to open.”
They walked back down the ridge.
“And by the time you get back here I’ll have a ring for you…I promise.”
“Have we thought about a honeymoon?” asked Josie.
“Cross country train ride sounds good to me.”
“Only if I can have breakfast with a cowboy.”
